Check the estimate before it becomes a proposal
Check the estimate before it becomes a proposal
Bring your own scope and hours. Add the costs, rates and price behind the job, then check the margin and likely overrun before you send it. This tool does not validate the scope or choose the price. Your full estimate stays in this browser.
Walk the estimate role by role
I used to walk estimates role by role before we put a price in front of a client. That is what this tool is built to do. Load the sample if you want to see how it works before you replace it with your own job.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. Build the estimate and read the report without entering your email. I ask for it only when you create the share links or use the print option.
Your estimate stays in the browser until you create links. Site analytics and session replay are disabled on the estimator. Requesting links sends SCG your email and project size band, plus total hours and input status. The client link contains the selected price. The internal link also contains role hours, cost, margin, assumptions and the likely-overrun scenario.
It checks whether the estimate has role hours, rationale, assumptions, labor and non-labor costs, contingency, rates, a margin floor, a pricing route and a likely overrun. For time and materials, it also checks whether you considered how much overrun work is billable. It does not validate the scope, hours, team, costs or price.
Your client link includes only the project label, duration and selected price. It leaves out role hours, input status, cost, margin and the alternate price. The internal link includes role hours, both prices, cost, margin, assumptions and the likely-overrun scenario. Rationales stay in your browser. The links do not expire or prove who created them. Anyone who has one can read, forward or alter the data in the URL.
No. I would not trust a browser tool to make that call. It calculates both prices from the same hours and rates, and you choose the route you expect to use.
Yes. Download the full estimate as a file, then import it in another browser. The file contains your costs, rates, rationale and assumptions, so treat it as an internal document.
